So today we’re having Workspace Wednesday on a Thursday 😉 It just wasn’t going to happen yesterday I’m afraid. However, this week I have the lovely Sandy Shaddix Bartlett and she has some awesome tips! Sandy works with Juice Plus and has an awesome blog full of great healthy lifestyle tips – you definitely want to check it out!

First though, let’s see what she has for us for Workspace Wednesday! Or Thursday as it is now 😉

Do you stress about your workspace?  Feel you’re not organized?  STOP!  Your workspace can be anywhere and need only reflect you.  I am in the midst of moving so my current workspace is my lap with an empty moving box next to me as a side table…lol…whatever works.  My point here…your workspace can be anywhere or anything.

I’ve had many workspaces over time.  I’m a saver although I’m getting better and find I save less and less “paper” and have switched to more electronic files.  However, some things just can’t be done electronically.  I’ve gone from a huge corner desk set up with a 4-drawer lateral file to a table desk with pull out drawer and sharing a 4-drawer file cabinet with my husband.  In between that I just had a folding table as my desk.  That made me crazy as I had no desktop space.

My husband and I share an office so I have to be somewhat organized.  I’m learning from him as he is one who opens his mail and shreds it almost immediately and files what he keeps right away.  Me, not so much!  I will let mail pile up and to the point I can stand it anymore and then I’ll move it all into the living room and sit in front of the TV and sort it and open it.  Inevitably, the majority will go into the trash.  He was teasing me last night when I made a comment about not having a desk and I pointed at my box and said “this is my desk right now”.  His retort was “Where are all the piles on the floor?”  Ha Ha…he knows me well!

We bought matching desks at Costco that I absolutely love!  We still share a file cabinet – he has two drawers and I have two.  And then I also have a small 4 drawer organizer with office supplies as well as a fabulous organizer unit with 8 cube inserts that allow me to stay organized.  I have each of the cubes labeled and yes, at last one is just labeled “stuff”…lol.  So here are some visuals for you…

My desk… the shelf under the top of the desk is a pull out and I keep my planner and glasses on it…notice the pile in the left corner of the desk?  That is my two tier Longaberger basket file.  You can see some of my “fun” items scattered on my desk…turtles (my sorority mascot), Wonder Woman, Mickey and Minnie luggage tags (a birthday gift) and my microphone for recording videos…

My cube organizer…my organized clutter…ha ha.  I am involved in two different DS companies (Juice Plus and Younique) and also volunteer for my sorority (Delta Zeta)  as well as for the National Panhellenic Conference (leading workshops on college campuses) so I have materials I need for my volunteer roles.  You can see my 4 drawer office supply cabinet to the right of it…

My degrees and accolades, my Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, and a certificate from serving as President of a section of the California Association of School Business Officials.  The large picture next to the cube organizer is my Dream Board…it is placed right next to my desk so I can look at it regularly!

My desk as I was packing items and getting emptier…the desk is now in storage until we move to our permanent home…

So that “was” my workspace.  And I do miss it.  We are moving this week into a temporary apartment until our permanent home is completed.  Then I’ll be able to set up a brand new workspace.  In the meantime, I’ll continue to use my recliner and my lap…

Thanks so much Sandy! It’s so nice of you to share your workspace with us, and I can’t wait to see what it’s like when you move. Maybe that will be time for another feature here? Hehe! It’s so great to see how you organise your space with so many priorities pulling at you, and I am sure I am not alone in finding that very inspiring.
